La Crosse’s downtown business district is the heart of our city. It was so when our community started generations ago, and it remains so today.

It is here where our great-grandfathers started trading furs, lumber and other goods.

It is here where countless riverboats brought settlers to La Crosse.

It is here in the heart of a city where tourism thrives and locally owned businesses keep the pulse of La Crosse beating.

That’s why the Foundation puts such a premium on preserving our past, and at the same time ensuring beauty and growth in our future.

The Foundation, a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) Wisconsin corporation, was created in 1996 to support the central business district of the city of La Crosse with long term, cultural improvements that add to the natural beauty and attractiveness of the downtown area.

To accomplish this purpose, the Foundation has created an endowment that is the recipient of donations from supporters of the Foundation.

A portion of the proceeds from the invested assets of the fund will be used to finance foundation projects, activities and improvements to downtown La Crosse.

A volunteer board of directors governs the Foundation.

Gifts to the Foundation are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law (as applied to the individual circumstances of the donor).
